Moble copper anklet currency – DR Congo

DESCRIPTION/EXPERTISE
The Moble, a tribe in southeastern Democratic of Congo made ankle currency bracelets of copper which were used for major transactions.Worn both by men and women the anklets were offered by the husband to his wife to be part of a marriage contract.
The bracelets were forged and hammered from a single copper ingot.
